Distiguished Professor Renée Fry-McKibbin

Congratulations to Distinguished Professor Renée Fry-McKibbin from Professor Janine O’Flynn, Director of Crawford School of Public Policy

I am delighted to congratulate Renée Fry-McKibbin on her promotion to Distinguished Professor. It is always wonderful to see recognition for our colleagues, and in her promotion to Distinguished Professor, Renée’s contributions to education, research, and service have been acknowledged at the highest level.

Distinguished Professor Fry-McKibbin is a world-leading scholar, outstanding educator, and institution-builder. Her work has had a deep policy impact over many years.

Renée is one of the leading economists in this country, and is recognised widely as one of the world’s best macroeconomists. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in Australia and has held numerous fellowships, editorial positions, and advisory roles. This year she delivered the Independent Review of the Reserve Bank of Australia, the recommendations are already driving significant change.

In her field, she is known for building and shaping networks and mentoring others, helping to create the conditions for others to thrive. In her role as supervisor, Distinguished Professor Fry-McKibbin has mentored numerous doctoral students who have gone on to amazing careers. And in the classroom, she is recognised for her teaching excellence.

As a leader in the Crawford School and across the ANU, Renée is highly respected, having taken on a range of important roles. She does so with generosity, enthusiasm, and always with the goal of making a difference.

Her commitment to the mission of the Australian National University, and the Crawford School of Public Policy is the very model of a Distinguished Professor we should celebrate.
