The Asia and the Pacific region is rapidly aging and the share of working-age population in the region has begun to decline in the past year few years. Rapid aging raises the concern that countries will struggle to maintain strong and inclusive growth, while providing adequate social services and income support for the elderly.

Technology, employment, health and education policies need to ensure that older workers can reap the benefits of longer productivity, that health and social security systems are sustainable, and that younger populations have access to health and education over their lifetimes.

Given the diverse demographic profiles of countries in the Asia-Pacific, there is scope for regional cooperation in managing human capital, resources and cross-border labour mobility.

This event explores the implication of aging on labour force participation, productivity, and growth while examining the role and potential of technology to harness the gain from longevity dividend, in order to draw actionable policy recommendations and priorities.
